Popular viral video powerhouse YouTube is probably not the first place you’d go to watch a free movie, but alongside the numerous pay-per-view movies, you can find a large collection of free movies as well. Unlike some streaming sites, you don’t need to have an account to enjoy the wide selection of movies available for viewing, but there is some work that needs to be done on the user-end.

YouTube, for as big as it is, doesn’t advertise their free movie selection in the “Movies” section of their site. There are cheap movies, for sure, but nothing in this section is actually free. Instead, you’ll have to do a search for full length feature films in the search bar, and try and find it in your results. The best channels to get those full-length movies are usually owned by a larger studio. FUNimation and PopcornFlix are a couple of great channels to start looking.

So, while not totally convenient, YouTube offers a familiar layout and an easy way to stream your favorite movies without paying a dime. Just make sure that your chosen movie finishes buffering first.

By far the most popular place to watch free movies, there isn’t a soul alive who wouldn’t recommend Crackle to get your cinema fix. Featuring hundreds, if not thousands, of free movies right at your fingertips. All you need to do is sign up with an account to get a personalized list of movies and shows that you can browse. What’s great about Crackle is that it features a familiar layout with a great user interface.

However, Crackle does have its downsides; you won’t find new releases on this site, so if you’re looking for the new Avengers movie, you’re out of luck. It does have select, big-name feature films that you can watch, but nothing that has come out in the current year. Crackle features every genre under the sun, so whether you’re looking for action, comedy, suspense, or a thriller, you’re guaranteed to find something to scratch that particular itch. There are also a host of foreign films as well, so there’s no shortage of movies to watch.

Crackle is owned by Sony Pictures, which guarantees a wide and varied selection of movies and films at your fingertips. While this doesn’t necessarily get you the latest and greatest, there’s still a good selection of films featuring your favorite actors. Plus, it’s free, so there’s really no reason not to try Crackle at least once.

Like Crackle, PopcornFlix is a library of free to watch movies that come in a wide selection of genres. You don’t need a subscription, and you don’t need to sign up for anything. It’s as simple as browsing their movies and picking one. The layout of the site is incredibly easy to navigate, and is reminiscent of services like Netflix, where every movie is laid out in categories from action to comedy.

Unlike Crackle, PopcornFlix has a smaller selection to choose from (being owned by a smaller company), and while they have popular titles like Terminator and Total Recall, there are also a host of movies that either aren’t popular or flew under the radar on release. While you can probably find an old favorite on this site, you’re not going to find many A-list titles, and you’re definitely not going to see any new releases until after they’ve been out for a few years.

TubiTV has what is probably the most diverse selection of movies and TV to watch, featuring not only your standard action flicks and suspenseful thrillers, but also a good selection of anime and foreign film as well. There are literally hundreds of videos by big name producers to choose from, and lots of movies feature your favorite actors and actresses as well. The layout is easy to navigate, giving you lots of options right on the home page. There are no subscription fees, but you may need to create an account to get the best experience from this site.

This website is a great recommendation for people who want to watch old favorites and also newer flicks as well. There’s such a diversity in the selection on TubiTV that it will be a long time until you run out of things to watch.

There are nature and biology centered documentaries, as well as mystery and religious films as well. Because this website caters to such a specific audience, there isn’t a lot of love for these kinds of sites, but Top Documentary Films is fantastic to watch while you’re doing something else for a while.

A lot of people see the word “torrent” and immediately think that it’s a site to be avoided, but this website is just the opposite. Again, this is another website that targets a niche audience, but is still a great choice if you have nothing else to watch.
